Beh Jok ma sono cose scontate, chi diavolo gioca nel football di oggi senza avere un fisico adeguato? Io piuttosto sottolineerei quello che dicevi su Mays, ovvero gli aspetti "intangibili" come l'aggressività, il timing (sia per colpire che per placcare), la confidence. O altre cose molto più rare come l'istinto, la leadership.
Personalmente credo che un giocatore di oggi dovrebbe quanto meno essere un mix di fisicità e intangibili. Se poi a questi aggiungi istinto e leadership allora hai di certo un campione.
Talento e tecnica invece aprono un discorso un pelo più complesso che magari affrontiamo un'altra volta visto che Unicredit mi ha appena limato gli affidamenti...

Beh... in ogni caso, a giudicare dalla girandola di FA, CFA etc. che sono al camp, checché ne dica Marvin Lewis Cincinnati è in una fase di rebuilding totale.


Inutile rientrare nel discorso QB, della OL se ne è parlato, ma pensate anche ai LB, al fatto che tra i ricevitori la maggior parte degli starter è giovane come l'acqua, al fatto che se hanno fatto un contratto a Benson di solo un anno dovranno per forza di cosa iniziare a dare maggiore spazio ai Backup (io metterei Benson come backup, pensa un po').


La strada non mi dispiace: l'anno scorso cinci era una squadra fin troppo vecchia.

Al TC ci sono solo Dalton e Jordan Palmer, Carson è nella "Reserve/Did not report" list. Gradkowsky arriva oggi.

Se interessa queste sono le sensazioni di un forumista della bengals boards che è stato al TC:

I gotta say I'm now completely comfortable with Dalton at QB. I had wondered about his arm strength but today I saw him make a wide variety of throws and he looked good...really good. Some that stand out in particular are a beautiful sideline bomb that hit Simpson in stride, and another throw into traffic that threaded the needle and had incredible zip. I was really surprised cause he had so much zip on some of these passes that I think he has better arm strength than Carson at this stage. I'm really confused now how this was a knock on him in the draft....I watched closely and saw absolutely no evidence of it today.

The main negative today was the O-line. Our D-line was pretty much having their way with them and Dalton was constantly under pressure. He handled it really well though it did cause him to miss a few throws. I thought he showed good pocket presence and on one play in particular he stepped up in the crumbling pocket to avoid Geathers and hit his receiver. The O-line worries me more after today and I was glad to get home and see we got a new guard. Also remember how reports were the first day that the D wasn't throwing any blitzes? Not today....I saw several. Dalton handled them fairly well considering the pressure he took most of the practice. He wasn't perfect and he missed some throws but he certainly didn't look like a rookie who had no offseason. I gotta admit I was surprised.

Shipley was returning punts and I didn't notice him do alot of receiving. AJ Green did well but I didn't get to see any of the crazy catches people are raving about. Most throws to him were either dead on the money or so far off he didn't have a chance. This is kinda irrelevant but the running game didn't really impress me. No B Scott or Ced but most runs seemed to get stuffed by the D. I think I only saw one decent run all practice. Oh also did you guys know Shirley is back on the D-line? I didn't till today. I kinda wish he'd get another shot at guard though I was just glad to see him back.

Now to Jerome Simpson. He had a great practice and made some great catches. I already mentioned the bomb by Dalton but he also made a great grab in the corner of the endzone. In fact as far as I could tell he caught everything thrown his way. Also he sent people into the crowd before practice giving out his rookie card to fans so they could have him sign them later. The kids absolutely loved that and they got them signed afterwards simply because he stayed extra late signing autographs for fans. In fact the only person I saw still signing when I left besides him was Bobby Williams. I doubt if anyone from the team reads this or anyone who knows Jerome but if they do thank him for me and tell him he made the kid's day. They kept raving all the way home and talking about how he's their favorite player and such. Dude really is a class act.

I've been to a couple training camps before but I've never seen the team hit the fences for autographs the way they did today. Even Marvin himself went at least 3/4 of the way down the fence signing forever. By the way Nugent is a down to earth cool guy. Everytime I thought we were done and was ready to tell the kids it was time to go somebody else showed up ready to sign. Never been like that before though I'm sure some of it is forced as an overture to the fans cause management knows about all the discontent this year. I felt bad for one free agent LB cause he tried to leave the field and some position coach screamed at him to "hit the fence". He turned around and said "but coach nobody wants my autograph". Poor dude....I'm a hardcore fan and I didn't even know who he was. Didn't matter to the kids though, they were thrilled to have him sign anyway so he wasn't entirely right.

Gli snap li sta prendendo Dalton, ma il projected starter all'inizio della stagione sarà Gradkowski (o comecazzosiscrive) che al momento non può entrare in campo per uno di quegli oscuri motivi legati alla certificazione della NFLPA (un argomento che francamente ignoro).


Grad e Laura Palmer stanno aiutando il buon Dalton ad imparare le meccaniche NFL.


Carson è stato inserito nella lista dei giocatori che non si sono presentati al training camp, passo formale che serve a non pagargli più lo stipendio.


Per quanto riguarda Dalton, alterna buoni momenti a lanci un po' ad cazzum, ma direi che è capibile visto che sto poraccio si trova l'etichetta di projected franchise QB e non si è fatto nemmeno un po' di allenamento ad oggi. Penso che la vera intenzione del coaching staff sia di utilizzare Grad come starter nelle amichevoli e portare Dalton come starter già alla prima giornata.


Altri rookie stanno facendo molto bene, in primis AJ Green, ma anche Moch e gran parte degli altri.


Buona impressione sta facendo anche il kicker che se la sta giocando con Nugent. Quest'ultimo sembra essere in gran spolvero e aver recuperato l'infortunio, è secondo me un ottimo K, però è piuttosto fragile per cui non escluderei se alla fine del camp lo tagliassero comunque.

Sta cosa mi sembra davvero una cagata considerando il braccione che ha Carson, presumo che il tifoso abbia cercato di combattere il caldo di Cincinnati con qualche lattina di birra di troppo.

Cmq è vero che Dalton ha un braccio migliore di quello reclamizzato, lo aveva detto anche diverse volte mayock quando lo aveva visto lo scorso anno nel camp estivo organizzato dai fratelli Manning. Se non sbaglio a quel camp c'er pure Copernico.

Ottima mossa quella di aver firmato un discreto Qb come Bradkowski in modo tale da non bruciare il rosso, visto e considerato che la vostra OL è parecchio porosa (a quanto riportato).

Any word on Jonathan Fanane? Both sides continue to talk. The Bengals would love to get him signed by Thursday but need to show more urgency (translation — better offer).

Is A.J. Green phenomenal? What’s your take? He makes 2-3 great catches per practice. The best play he made during camp so far though is the double move he put on Leon Hall on Monday.

What position do you think we’ll see signed next? Areas of emphasis remain offensive line, linebacker and defensive line.

Are there any teams interested in Palmer if the Bengals want to trade? Miami would love to have him as would the usual suspects of Seattle and San Francisco. All three will also still be in the market for a starter when the season ends.

How does Andy Dalton Look? Does he know the playbook? The one thing Marvin Lewis and a couple of the offensive linemen remark about is Dalton’s command in the huddle and how he knows how a play should look at the snap. So yes, he has an early command of the playbook.

How has Shipley looked thus far? Solid and dependable. Hasn’t made any flashy catches yet but so far he is doing what you would expect.

Who will be number one? Simpson? Simpson is lining up on the first team as a starter but number one option would be Green.
