allora moss è semplicissimo:

nfl.com può dire 4e 5 per semplicità e perchè non è certo la distanza ufficiale ma sul campo può benissimo essere  4 e 5-1/4 oppure 4 e 5-1/2 no?
il che farebbe diventare la situazione se accettata un 4 e inches.... holmgreen ha fatto benissimo a declinare e a tenersi la buona posizione di campo conquistata...

ricordo una squadra aver perso una partita l'anno scorso perché il capo allenatore non giocò un quarto e inches nella red zone ma preferì calciare un field goal
per inciso, con una vittoria in più quella squadra sarebbe potuta andare ai play off

in tutte le situazioni in cui la palla non è esattamente su una yarda sul campo viene usato un apposito gancetto lo puoi vedere durante il riposizionamento del pallone dopo una penalità; il capo arbitro tiene la catena proprio in quel punto quando posiziona il pallone...
