According to Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune, kickoff specialist Rhys Lloyd and the Vikings agreed to a 2-year contract Monday night.

"The Vikings landed their first free agent Monday night when former Gophers kicker Rhys Lloyd agreed to a two-year contract, and it appears the team has its sights set on another whose acquisition would create plenty of buzz. Although nothing is imminent, the Vikings appear to have a genuine interest in running back LaDainian Tomlinson. He would be a possible replacement for Chester Taylor, who left the Vikings after four seasons to sign with Chicago. Tomlinson spent nine years with San Diego and was the NFL's MVP in 2006, establishing single-season records with 31 touchdowns and 186 points. He also won the NFL rushing title that season and again in 2007."

Running back LaDainian Tomlinson will visit with the Vikings on Thursday, a league source said.

Minnesota is seeking to replace Chester Taylor, an eight-year veteran who signed a free-agent deal with the Bears on Friday. The Vikings have Pro Bowl starting running back Adrian Peterson, but are looking for a capable complement, particularly in passing situations.

Tomlinson, who was released last month after nine years with San Diego -- where he set or tied 28 franchise records, including career rushing yards and touchdowns -- has had at least 50 receptions eight times. He also is a sure-handed ball-carrier, which is attractive to the Vikings because Peterson lost six fumbles in 314 carries last season. Tomlinson has lost only seven fumbles in his last 2,541 carries.

This will be the first visit for Tomlinson since being cut by San Diego. He recently said he has no problem sharing the backfield and believes he could be a positive mentor for a young back.

While it's tempting to romanticize the possibilities of a backfield that includes Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson and LaDainian Tomlinson or Brian Westbrook, the Vikings would be better off finding Chester Taylor's replacement in the middle to later rounds of the draft.


 

non capisco  un RB al draft? 
veramente avremmo una piccolissima necessità in ruoli più che scoperti come RT, S , 2 CB, MLB , QB?, 2 DT (vista la partenza di Kennedy) e si parla di draftare un backup RB? Spero sia solo caxxate altrimenti ci sarà da soffrire quest'anno
