William Perry hospitalized in serious conditionChicago Tribune
"Former Bears defensive tackle William "Refrigerator" Perry is hospitalized in serious condition at the Aiken (S.C.) Regional Medical Center after suffering the effects of Guillain-Barre' syndrome, which was diagnosed last summer.
The disease is an inflammatory disorder of the peripheral nerves outside the brain and spinal cord. The symptoms include general weakness of the legs, arms, breathing muscles and face.
"The Guillain-Barre' syndrome developed into CIDP, which is a cousin of that," said Perry's agent, Adam Plotkin. "He is improving every day and they hope he is released in a week or two."
Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) is an acquired immune-mediated inflammatory disorder of the peripheral nervous system."
