Come detto, il gesto forte di Bush sta iniziando a creare un pò di scompiglio nel mondo NCAA.
Adesso in sua difesa anche Barkley e il basket.
E stanno venendo fuori un pò di scheletri dagli armadi, sempre ammesso che qualcuno pensasse che quello è un mondo casto e puro...

Charles Barkley was discussing Reggie Bush's decision to return the Heisman Trophy during an interview with Dan Patrick on Friday morning when the conversation turned to his own college career. The always outspoken former Auburn star admitted that he too received money from agents  during college in the 1980s, though Barkley described it as "chump change" that he paid back once he signed his first NBA contract.
"If a guy wants to borrow money from an agent because he's poor, what is wrong with that?" Barkley said. "Nobody can tell me what is wrong with that. I got money from agents when I was in college and I went in the '80s. Most of the players I know borrowed money from agents. The colleges don't give us anything. If they give us a pair of sneakers, they get in trouble. Why can't an agent lend me some money and I'll pay him back when I graduate?"
As for Barkley's opinion on the Bush case, it meshes with the former NBA star's belief that top college athletes should both receive a stipend from their universities and be allowed to accept money from prospective agents.

"I'm disappointed Reggie is giving the Heisman back because these colleges are making so much money off these kids," Barkley said. "Reggie made one mistake. He should have paid those [agents] back and this whole thing never would have happened."

Sarkisian calls Reggie Bush 'an idiot'

Technically, this is probably a story for our compadres over at the College Football Blog . Unfortunately, they're a little tied up with posting GIFs of PedoBear , so we're gonna be the ones writing about how Washington coach Steve Sarkisian called Reggie Bush "an idiot." Again.

Er, not again, but "an idiot again," which theoretically is kind of the same thing, right? (Also, worth noting that we love what those guys at the CFB blog are doing. They're our besties.) Anyway, Sark had some words for Shelley Smith about Reggie Bush handing back his Heisman Trophy.

"He had a chance to apologize, look like the good guy," Sarkisian told Smith. "But in giving it back and not apologizing, he just looks like an idiot again ... No matter how much money he got paid, that didn't affect how we prepared. We weren't the best team in football because of what he or his parents took."

UPDATE: Sark said after the Nebraska/Washington game that the comments weren't intended 'for print media.' So, um, okay.

It's understandable that Sarkisian isn't "thrilled" by the fact that Bush's public debacling and USC's punishments makes him look less effective as a coach, but it sure seems that everyone is quick to forget that it was common knowledge (a la Shaq at LSU) that Bush had some "stuff" going on.

And you know what? Even if Sark didn't know what was going on (somehow), it doesn't matter -- if someone gets to participate in everything that leads to the celebration of the championships, they get to participate in everything involved in the downfall afterwards, too.

Quanta ignoranza...quanta frustrazione...quanta invidia...poveretto.
