The Raiders hired Hue Jackson, the quarterbacks coach in Baltimore last season, as their new offensive coordinator.

Jackson agreed to a three-year deal with the Raiders, according to a league source. He interviewed for the position over several days last week and also was being pursued by the Bears for their coordinator vacancy.

Jackson and Raiders coach Tom Cable coached together at the University of California in 1996. Raiders owner Al Davis has yet to decide if Cable will be back for the 2010 season, though signs have pointed to him being retained.

Raiders agree to four-year, $16 million contract with Janikowski

ALAMEDA, Calif. -- Sebastian Janikowski and the Oakland Raiders agreed on a four-year, $16 million contract that is the richest for a kicker in NFL history, the team said Tuesday.

Janikowski will be guaranteed $9 million in the deal, a person familiar with the contract said on condition of anonymity because the team didn't announce terms.

Janikowski was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent if the Raiders didn't sign him or place the transition or franchise tag on him by Feb. 25. However, the team was able to lock him up by giving him the same contract that All-Pro punter Shane Lechler received last year to stay out of free agency.

...mah, da quello che ho letto in giro Cambpell avrebbe parlato con Tom Cable circa il ruolo di starter ricevendo le dovute garanzie, ovviamente c'e' un po' di pretattica poiche' invece altri dello staff di Oakland avrebbero fatto intendere che nulla e' deciso ancora...!

...quello pero' che ti dovrebbe preoccupare e' questa notizia:

The Raiders will owe Russell $3 million more regardless, but cutting him before next week's minicamp is the safe play. If Russell gets hurt, the Raiders will owe one of the biggest busts in NFL history the full $9.5 million. Make no mistake, Jason Campbell is the Raiders' starting quarterback.
